Green Energy

In recent decades, there has been a worldwide push towards the use of green energy. Energy sources such as solar, wind, biomass, and geothermal have all gained notoriety as being viable options to our current use of fossil fuels. Furthermore, as technology has advanced, these alternative energy sources have only become more viable for an ever-widening array of applications.

One of the primary reasons that green energy has become such a hot topic is due to our increasing understanding of the effects of burning fossil fuels. The problem with fossil fuels is that when they are burned they release toxic chemicals into the atmosphere, which over the long term has proven to have adverse effects on the global environment. "Green" sources of energy, by comparison, do not have any damaging effects on the surrounding ecology.

Green energy sources also have another advantage, and that advantage is financial in nature. Fossil fuels must be constantly mined or pumped from the earth, transported, and then distributed to the public; all of which increases their cost at the point of sale. With green sources, none of that is needed because they generate electricity from sources such as wind and the sun, both of which can be found anywhere on the planet.
