Alternative Energy

"Alternative energy" is a generalized term for any source of electricity that is renewable and safe for the environment. Such energy sources can include solar and wind power, as well as geothermal and tidal energy sources. In recent years, there has been a real focus on such sources of energy, as they are renewable and are much better suited for the environment.

For large-scale electricity generation, wind power is one of the most popular forms of alternative energy. Large wind farms have popped up all across the country, and are proving to be a very effective way of supplying electricity to the surrounding communities. Furthermore, offshore wind farms are also proving to be quite effective, and are being set up in several of the countries more populated coastal regions.

Solar power is also a popular form of alternative energy. This is especially true for residential applications, as a properly designed solar energy system can often provide all of the power needed to run an average home. Furthermore, the technology has advanced to the point where small solar panels can be utilized for everything from powering a recreational vehicle or boat to recharging laptop computers and cell phones.
