Energy is the lifeblood of today's modern world. Nearly everything we use in our everyday lives, from the car that gets us to work, to the stove we use to cook dinner at night, runs on some form of fossil fuel-based energy source. Unfortunately, fossil fuels are not infinite in their availability, and supplies are already starting to dwindle. This in turn is driving the costs for these fuels upwards and is putting a strain on just about everybody's pocketbook. On the plus side, however, it has also generated a great deal of interest in solar energy, wind power, and other renewable energy sources; all of which can be used to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels.
Welcome to CleanEnergyFund.org, where we believe that renewable energy is the lifeblood of the future. The fact of the matter is that we simply cannot continue to rely on fossil fuels for our energy needs, especially when we have viable alternatives. To this end, we have designed our website to be used as a resource of information for anyone that wants to learn more about the world of clean energy. We do not endorse any particular company or product, and as such we are free to offer honest, unbiased content; and we do our best to present this information in an easy to understand format. It should also be noted that we do not sell any product and our site is strictly for informational purposes only.
Of all the forms of alternative energy, solar energy is perhaps the most widely known. Energy from the sun has been used for centuries as a means of controlling the temperature of the home, or for water heating purposes. However, this same energy can be used to generate electricity through the use of photovoltaic cells and solar panels. There are several advantages to generating power this way, not the least of which is environmental. Solar power does not require the burning of anything, and therefore does not release any chemicals into the air. It is also fueled by one of the most abundant sources of energy in the known universe, simple sunshine, meaning that it is infinitely renewable.
Wind power is also gaining ground as a viable form of renewable energy. Much like solar power, wind has been used for centuries as a means of creating mechanical energy; with windmills being the most common example. Today, however, wind can be used to general electricity as well. Large-scale wind farms are currently providing electricity to several areas of the country and with very positive results, and more are in the planning stages. Furthermore, offshore wind turbines are also gaining in popularity for many populated coastal regions. And also like solar, wind is a resource that is available nearly everywhere and is can be harnessed relatively easily.
